Pick a limited area
Use one small group of non-sensitive working files for the exercise. Do not begin with the entire archive. The aim is to try a decision process on material that can be reviewed safely.
Name the next action
For each item, note a concrete next step or decide that no action is needed. Keep originals and necessary backups intact. This example does not replace an organization’s retention rules.
Stop at the boundary
When the selected group is reviewed, record what remains uncertain. A limited exercise is useful when it can end without silently expanding into a different task.
